Reporting — Data Quality Dimensions Dashboard
Analyze data quality across Completeness, Accuracy, Consistency, Timeliness, and Uniqueness dimensions with drill-down results and customizable widgets.
Overview
The Data Quality Dimensions Dashboard provides an in-depth analysis of data quality across standard dimensions — Completeness, Accuracy, Consistency, Timeliness, and Uniqueness. It helps data teams assess asset health from multiple quality perspectives and identify which dimensions are underperforming.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in to Data Trust with a Pro-User or Admin Pro-User role.
- At least one scenario tagged with a data quality dimension has been executed.
Accessing the Dashboard
Path: Data Trust › Reporting › Data Quality Dimensions DashboardFrom the Reporting module landing page, locate 'Data Quality Dimensions Dashboard' in the left-hand navigation menu and click it to open the dimensions view. The navigation panel lists all available Reporting dashboards, so you can switch between them without going back to the main Reporting home page.
Selecting the Dimensions Dashboard opens a view that groups scenario results by quality dimension category such as Completeness, Accuracy, and Consistency. Each dimension tile shows the aggregated pass, fail, and warning counts for all scenarios tagged with that dimension, letting you assess quality at the dimension level.
The default dashboard view displays pass, fail, and warning counts for each quality dimension as individual tiles arranged across the page. This layout gives you an instant multi-dimensional health overview — you can see at a glance which dimensions have the most failures or warnings without drilling into individual scenarios.
Expanding the Dimension Grid
Each quality dimension tile contains a collapsible tabular grid listing individual scenario results for that dimension.
Clicking the Expand button on any dimension tile opens the full tabular grid beneath it, revealing every individual scenario execution result tagged to that dimension. The expanded grid shows scenario names, latest result status, execution date, and exception counts so you can review all scenarios within a dimension in one place.
The Unassigned section within the expanded grid lists all scenarios that have not yet been tagged with a quality dimension, highlighting gaps in your tagging coverage. Reviewing this section regularly ensures that new scenarios added by your team are properly categorized and included in dimension-level quality reporting.
Selecting the Unassigned category displays the complete list of scenarios without a dimension tag, showing their names, owners, and last execution status. Use this list to identify which scenarios to update in the scenario configuration, assigning each to its appropriate data quality dimension.
Drilling Down to Scenario Execution Details
Clicking a scenario name within any dimension grid opens the FDR Session page, showing the complete execution output including matched records, exception detail, and result metrics. This drill-down path takes you from a high-level dimension summary directly into the granular data of a specific execution without leaving the Reporting module.
The Latest Result column in the dimension grid shows the most recent execution status for each scenario as a color-coded status badge. This column provides an instant health check — you can see whether a scenario is currently passing, failing, or producing warnings without needing to open its detail page.
Scenario Execution Summary Tab
Clicking the Accuracy dimension tile activates an accuracy-only filter, updating all charts and the scenario list to show exclusively accuracy-tagged scenario results. This focused view makes it easy to assess the health of accuracy across your data assets without being distracted by other dimension results.
The Scenario Execution Summary tab provides a detailed tabular grid listing all executions within the selected dimension, with columns for scenario name, status, execution date, and counts. This tab is particularly useful for compliance reporting as it gives a structured, auditable view of all quality checks performed within a specific dimension.
The Result History column displays a mini trend indicator for each scenario, showing the pass/fail pattern across its most recent executions as a compact visual sequence. A trend that shifts from green to red across recent runs signals a deteriorating scenario that should be investigated before it becomes a persistent failure.
Clicking a Result History entry opens the full history panel, displaying a chronological list of every past execution with its status, date, time, and exception count. This complete history is valuable for understanding whether a data quality problem is a new occurrence or a long-standing issue that has been present across many runs.
Collapsing and Navigating Grids
Clicking the Unexpand button collapses the expanded tabular grid back into its compact dimension tile, returning the dashboard to the summary overview layout. Collapsing tiles you have finished reviewing keeps the dashboard clean and makes it easier to navigate to other dimensions.
Clicking the Completeness dimension button opens the tabular grid for Completeness-tagged scenarios, showing how thoroughly data fields are populated across your data assets. Low completeness scores in this grid indicate that source or target data contains missing or null values that may need to be addressed in upstream data pipelines.
After reviewing the Completeness grid, click the Expand/Collapse toggle to hide it and free up space on the dashboard for reviewing other dimensions. The toggle state is remembered during your current session, so collapsing one section does not affect the expanded state of other dimension tiles.
Scenarios with medium-severity exceptions are highlighted in amber within the grid, indicating data quality issues that should be reviewed but are not immediately critical. Medium-severity items are typically threshold breaches that fall within an acceptable tolerance range but warrant monitoring to prevent escalation.
Scenarios flagged with critical severity are highlighted in red, signaling data quality issues that require immediate investigation and corrective action. Critical exceptions often indicate that source-to-target discrepancies have exceeded acceptable thresholds and the underlying data pipeline or reconciliation rule needs to be reviewed.
After reviewing critical-severity data, collapsing the expanded grid returns the dashboard to the compact summary view for easier navigation between other dimensions. This workflow — expand, review, collapse — helps you systematically work through each dimension without the dashboard becoming cluttered with multiple open grids simultaneously.
Analyzing the Accuracy Dimension
Clicking the Accuracy dimension tile activates the accuracy filter and updates all charts and the scenario list to show only accuracy-tagged scenario results. The Accuracy dimension measures how closely data values in the target match the expected or reference values defined in the reconciliation or validation rules.
This view shows the total number of record-level accuracy checks performed across all accuracy-tagged scenarios during the selected time period. A high check count combined with a low exception rate indicates strong data accuracy health; a high exception rate relative to checks signals a systemic accuracy problem.
Clicking an accuracy scenario in the grid opens its detail page, showing which specific field values failed accuracy checks and the percentage of total records affected. The field-level breakdown on this page helps you pinpoint whether accuracy failures are isolated to a single column or spread across multiple fields in the data set.
Editing Report Visualizations
Open the dashboard settings menu and select Edit Visualization to access options for changing the chart type, data grouping, or displayed metrics on the Dimensions Dashboard. Customizing the visualization helps you present the dimension data in the format most useful for your team — for example, switching from a bar chart to a tabular view for export.
The visualization configuration panel displays all available chart types and metric grouping settings that can be applied to the current dashboard view. Select a chart type and configure the data grouping, then click Apply to preview the updated visualization before saving the configuration.
After applying new visualization settings, the dashboard immediately reflects the updated chart type and data grouping as a live preview. Review the preview to confirm the new visualization presents the dimension data clearly before saving the configuration as your default view.
A success notification confirms that the updated visualization configuration has been saved and will be applied the next time the Dimensions Dashboard is loaded. The saved visualization persists across sessions, so other users who access your shared reports will also see the updated chart type.
Saving and Sharing Reports
The Send Email button in the Dimensions Dashboard toolbar lets you share the current dashboard view — including dimension filters and chart data — with team members or stakeholders via email. This is particularly useful for distributing dimension-level quality status reports to business owners who need visibility into specific data quality dimensions.
The Send Email dialog lets you enter recipient email addresses, a subject line, and an optional message before sending the Dimensions Dashboard report. Enter multiple addresses in the To field to distribute the report to your full team in a single action.
A success toaster appears at the top of the screen confirming the email has been sent to all specified recipients with the current Dimensions Dashboard data. The confirmation message includes the recipient count, giving you immediate assurance that the distribution was successful.
Adding and Managing Widgets
Click the Add Widgets button in the dashboard toolbar to open the widget library, where you can browse and select additional quality dimension metrics to add to your view. Adding widgets lets you extend the default dimension view with new metric panels tailored to the specific quality questions your team needs to answer.
The Add Widgets pop-up lists all available widget types organized by category, allowing you to select the specific metrics and dimensions you want to display. Check the box next to each desired widget and click Add to insert it into the dashboard layout immediately.
Clicking the Reports button in the toolbar opens the Saved Reports panel, which lists all previously saved Dimensions Dashboard configurations ready for reload. This button is your shortcut to switching between different saved dimension views without reapplying filters manually each time.
The Saved Reports pop-up lists all saved Dimensions Dashboard configurations, each with its name, access level, and a Load button for instant retrieval. Click any report name to reload that configuration and restore the associated filters, chart type, and widget layout in a single click.
Switching to Tabular View displays all quality dimension data in a structured grid format instead of the default chart tiles, making it easier to read exact numbers. The tabular view is especially useful when you need to copy data into a report or compare precise counts across multiple dimensions side by side.
The full tabular view shows all quality dimension results in a sortable, filterable grid with columns for scenario name, dimension tag, status, execution date, and exception counts. Sorting by Exception Count in this view helps you quickly rank the worst-performing scenarios across all dimensions in a single consolidated list.
