Cockpit — Asset Inventory Tile
Track the count and growth of all Data Trust assets — FDRs, TDRs, Validations, Queries, Jobs, and more — from the Cockpit dashboard.
Overview
The Asset Inventory tile on the Cockpit dashboard provides a count of all Data Trust assets — FDRs, TDRs, Validations, BDVs, QPTs, Queries, Query Chains, and Jobs — created by the current user or all users across the platform.
The tile supports Line Chart, Pie Chart, and Tabular views, and allows direct navigation to individual asset detail pages for inspection and editing.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in to Data Trust with a Pro-User or Admin Pro-User role.
Figure 1: Data Trust Cockpit — Asset Inventory tile visible in the dashboard
The Asset Inventory tile counts every Data Trust object you or your team has built — FDRs, TDRs, Validations, BDVs, QPTs, Queries, Query Chains, and Jobs. It gives you an instant, comprehensive inventory of everything on the platform without browsing individual modules.
Accessing the Asset Inventory Tile
Path: Data Trust › Cockpit- Log in to Data Trust.
The Cockpit dashboard loads. The Asset Inventory tile displays a chart showing asset counts by type over the selected time range.
Tile View — Default (Line Chart)
Figure 2: Asset Inventory tile — default view showing asset counts as a multi-series line chart
The default Line Chart view plots one colored line per asset type over time. This lets you see at a glance which asset types are growing, which are stable, and whether any type has dropped (indicating deletions) over the selected period.
By default, the Asset Inventory tile shows a multi-series line chart with one series per asset type (FDR, TDR, Validation, BDV, QPT, Query, Query Chain, Job). The Y-axis shows the count of assets, and the X-axis shows the date.
Refreshing the Tile
Figure 3: Asset Inventory tile — Refresh icon in the action bar
The Refresh icon reloads the latest asset counts from the platform. Use it after creating or deleting assets to confirm that the inventory tile reflects the current state.
- Click the Refresh icon to reload the latest asset count data.
Tabular View
Figure 4: Asset Inventory tile — Tabular view listing each asset type and its total count
Tabular view lists every asset type with its current total count. Each row is also a clickable link — click any asset type to open a popup listing all assets of that type, so you can quickly jump to individual assets.
- Click the Tabular icon to switch to a count table.
The tile shows a list of asset types (FDRs, TDRs, Validations, BDVs, QPTs, Queries, Query Chains, Jobs) with the count of assets of each type.
Drilling Down — Total FDRs
Figure 5: Asset Inventory tabular view — clicking the Total FDRs row to drill down
Clicking the Total FDRs row (or any asset type row) in Tabular view opens a popup listing all assets of that type within the current scope. This is the fastest way to find a specific FDR scenario without navigating to the FDR module.
Figure 6: User data for FDRs — list of FDR scenarios created by the selected user
The FDR list popup shows the names of all FDR scenarios owned by the selected scope (your account or all users). Click any scenario name to open its Edit page directly, so you can inspect or modify it without leaving the Cockpit context.
- In the Tabular view, click any asset type row (for example, Total FDRs).
A popup or drawer appears listing all FDR scenarios associated with the selected user scope.
Pie Chart View
Figure 7: Asset Inventory tile — Pie Chart icon in the action bar
The Pie Chart icon in the action bar switches the tile from Line Chart to Pie Chart mode. Click it when you want a proportional snapshot of the asset mix rather than a time-series trend.
Figure 8: Asset Inventory tile — Pie Chart view showing asset type distribution
Pie Chart view displays each asset type as a proportional slice of the total asset count. Larger slices indicate asset types you have built more of — useful for quickly understanding where most of your Data Trust effort is concentrated.
- Click the Pie Chart icon to switch to pie chart mode.
A pie chart displays each asset type as a proportional segment based on count.
Line Chart View
Figure 9: Asset Inventory tile — Line Chart view showing asset count trends over time
Line Chart view plots the count of each asset type as a time series over the selected period. Upward-trending lines indicate new assets are being created; flat or downward lines suggest a stable or shrinking inventory.
- Click the Line Chart icon to view historical asset count trends over the selected time range.
Expanding the Tile
Figure 10: Asset Inventory tile — Expand icon to open the full-width view
The Expand icon opens the Asset Inventory tile in full-width mode. With many asset type series on the line chart, the wider view prevents the lines from appearing cramped and makes individual series labels legible.
Figure 11: Asset Inventory tile — Expanded View with full-width chart
Expanded View shows the full-width Asset Inventory chart. The extra horizontal space gives each line series room to breathe, making it easier to identify which asset types are growing fastest or to spot any unexpected drops.
- Click the Expand icon (❐) to open the tile in full-width mode.
- Click the Close icon to return to the standard Cockpit layout.
Legend — Showing and Hiding Asset Types
Figure 12: Asset Inventory tile — Legend icon in the action bar
The Legend icon opens the legend panel, which lists all eight asset types with their assigned chart colors. Click it any time you need to identify which colored line corresponds to which asset type.
Figure 13: Asset Inventory tile — clicking a legend item strikes it through to hide that asset type from the chart
Clicking a legend item strikes it through and removes that asset type's series from the chart. When many series overlap, hiding the less relevant ones — for example, keeping only FDRs and Validations visible — makes the chart far more readable.
- Click the Legend icon to display the legend panel.
- Click any legend entry to show or hide that asset type in the chart.
Drilling Down from the Line Chart
Figure 14: Asset Inventory line chart — hovering over a data point for the Query Chain series
Hovering over a data point on any series (here, Query Chain) shows a tooltip with the exact asset count on that date. Clicking the point opens the asset list popup for that type, so you can inspect individual assets immediately.
Figure 15: Asset Inventory — user data popup for Query Chain assets showing the list of query chains
Clicking a data point opens a popup listing all assets of that type owned by the current scope. Each asset name is a link — click any query chain name to navigate directly to its configuration page.
Figure 16: Query Chain title page — opened by clicking a Query Chain in the user data popup
The Query Chain title page opens after clicking an asset name in the popup. It shows the chain's name, description, and the queries linked within it, giving you an immediate overview before opening the full Edit page.
Figure 17: Query Chain edit page — detailed configuration view for the selected query chain
The Query Chain Edit page shows the full configuration: which queries are included, their execution order, scheduling options, and run history. Use it to verify a chain's setup or to troubleshoot unexpected execution results.
- In the Line Chart view, click on any data point on a series (for example, the Query Chain series).
A popup appears showing the list of assets of that type owned by the current user (or all users, depending on the active scope).
- Click any asset name in the popup to navigate to its detail/edit page.
Legend Strike-Through in Expanded View
Figure 18: Asset Inventory expanded view — legend item struck through to focus on specific asset types
Legend toggling works in the expanded view too. Strike through the asset types you don't need to keep the wide chart readable — for example, show only FDRs and Jobs when comparing those two asset types over time.
Legend toggling works in both the standard and expanded views.
Drilling Down — FDRs in Expanded View
Figure 19: Asset Inventory expanded view — clicking Total FDRs to open the FDR list
In the expanded view's Tabular layout, clicking any asset type row — here, Total FDRs — opens the same asset list popup as in the standard view. The drill-down navigation works identically regardless of whether the tile is expanded or not.
Figure 20: User data for FDRs in expanded view — list of FDR scenarios
The FDR list popup in expanded view lists all FDR scenarios within the active scope. Click any scenario name to navigate directly to its Edit page for configuration review or to initiate a re-run.
Figure 21: Selected FDR scenario — FDR edit page opened from the Asset Inventory drill-down
The FDR Edit page opens from the drill-down, showing the scenario's full configuration: source and target connections, field mappings, match keys, and run history. This is the definitive page for inspecting or modifying any FDR scenario.
- In the expanded view, click any asset type count to view the associated asset list.
- Click any asset name to navigate directly to its edit page.
Time Range Selector
Figure 22: Asset Inventory tile — time range selector showing Day, Week, and Month options
The Day, Week, and Month selector controls how much historical data the Line Chart displays. Use Month to see long-term asset growth trends, and Day for a close-up view of very recent changes to the inventory.
- Use the Day / Week / Month selector in the tile header to change
the time range for the asset count chart.
The chart updates to show asset growth or change over the selected period.
