Cockpit — System Activity Tile
Monitor real-time platform activity — logged-in users, running jobs, and active scenarios — directly from the Cockpit.
Overview
The System Activity tile displays real-time and historical platform-level activity metrics on the Cockpit dashboard. It tracks logged-in users, running jobs, active FDR and TDR reconciliations, validation sessions, and query chain executions.
Administrators can use this tile to monitor platform health at a glance, identify unusual activity spikes, and quickly navigate to the Job Explorer or user management screens for further investigation.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in to Data Trust with a Pro-User or Admin Pro-User role.
Figure 1: Data Trust Cockpit — System Activity tile visible in the dashboard
The System Activity tile provides a real-time health check of the entire platform: how many users are currently logged in, how many jobs are running, and how many active reconciliation and validation sessions are underway — all at a single glance.
Accessing the System Activity Tile
Path: Data Trust › Cockpit- Log in to Data Trust.
The Cockpit dashboard loads. The System Activity tile shows a line chart of current and historical platform activity.
All Users vs. Single User View
Figure 2: System Activity tile — All Users view showing platform-wide activity metrics
All Users mode shows activity across the entire platform. Administrators use this to spot unusual spikes — for example, a sudden increase in running jobs or logged-in users — that might indicate a performance issue or unauthorized access.
Figure 3: System Activity tile — Single User view scoped to the logged-in user
Single User mode narrows the activity chart to activity associated with your own account. Use it to track your own running jobs and active sessions without the noise of other users' platform activity.
- Click the user icon in the System Activity tile header to toggle between All Users and Single User view.
Hovering for Activity Details
Figure 4: System Activity tile — hovering over a data point shows a tooltip with activity counts for that date
Hovering over any data point reveals a tooltip listing counts for every tracked activity type at that moment: Logged-In Users, Jobs Running, FDRs, TDRs, Validations, and Query Chains. This lets you read exact numbers without switching to Tabular view.
- In the Line Chart view, hover your cursor over any data point.
A tooltip appears showing the count of each activity type (Logged-In Users, Jobs Running, FDRs, TDRs, Validations, Query Chains) at that moment in time.
Chart Legend
Figure 5: System Activity tile — chart legend listing all tracked activity metrics
The legend lists all tracked activity metrics with their assigned colors: Logged-In Users, Jobs Running, FDRs, TDRs, Validations, and Query Chains. It helps you identify which line on the chart corresponds to which type of platform activity.
Figure 6: System Activity tile — legend item struck through to hide a metric from the chart
Clicking a legend item strikes it out and hides that activity series from the chart. When many metrics are displayed, hiding less relevant ones — such as TDRs if you only care about FDRs — reduces visual clutter and makes the remaining series easier to read.
- Click the Legend icon to display the legend.
- Click any legend item to toggle its visibility on the chart.
Refreshing the Tile
Figure 7: System Activity tile — Refresh icon in the action bar
The Refresh icon reloads the System Activity data from the server immediately. Use it frequently during high-load periods to get the most current view of running jobs and active users.
- Click the Refresh icon (↻) to reload the latest activity data.
Tabular View
Figure 8: System Activity tile — Tabular view showing current counts for each activity metric
Tabular view presents the current activity counts as a list: Logged-In Users, Jobs Running, FDRs Running, TDRs Running, Validations Running, and Query Chains Running. Each row is a clickable link that navigates to the corresponding administration page.
- Click the Tabular icon to switch to a tabular layout.
The tile displays a list of activity metrics with their current counts, including: Logged-In Users, Jobs Running, FDRs Running, TDRs Running, Validations Running, and Query Chains Running.

Customizing the Users Table Layout
Figure 11: Logged-In Users page — Table Fields selector for customizing visible columns
The Table Fields icon opens a column-selector panel. Use it to show or hide columns so the table displays only the information most relevant to your task — for example, showing only Username and Login Time for a quick session audit.
Figure 12: Logged-In Users page — selecting or deselecting columns from the Table Fields panel
In the Table Fields panel, check the columns you want to display and uncheck the ones you want to hide. Your preference is saved, so the table will use this layout the next time you visit the page.
Figure 13: Logged-In Users page — column selection saved successfully
After saving, a success notification confirms the column preference was stored. The table immediately updates to show only your chosen columns, giving you a cleaner, more focused view.
- On the Logged-In Users page, click the Table Fields icon to open the column selector panel.
- Check or uncheck columns to show or hide them in the table.
- Click Save to apply your column preferences.
The table updates to show only the selected columns. A success notification confirms the change.
Creating a New User from the Logged-In Users Page
Figure 14: Logged-In Users page — Add User button in the page header
The Add User button lets you create a new Data Trust account directly from the Logged-In Users page, without navigating to the full Admin Console. This shortcut is convenient when you need to provision a user quickly while monitoring active sessions.
Figure 15: Create User popup — form to enter new user details
The Create User popup contains fields for the new user's username, email address, first name, last name, and role. All required fields must be filled in before the Create button becomes active.

- On the Job Explorer page, click any job name to open its Edit page with full configuration and recent execution history.
Line Chart View
Figure 27: System Activity tile — switching to the Line Chart view for historical trend analysis
Switching to Line Chart view plots each activity metric as a time series, one colored line per metric. This makes it easy to spot trends — for example, a gradual increase in running jobs over the week that might signal a growing backlog.
- Click the Line Chart icon to switch from Tabular to Line Chart view.
The tile displays a line chart with one series per activity metric, plotted over the selected time range.
Expanding the Tile
Figure 28: System Activity tile — Expand icon in the action bar
The Expand icon in the System Activity tile's action bar opens the tile in full-width mode. Use this when you need a wider canvas to compare multiple activity metrics side by side without the chart feeling cramped.
Figure 29: System Activity tile — Expanded View showing a full-width line chart
Expanded View shows all activity metrics on a wide multi-series chart. The extra width makes it far easier to read crowded data points and compare trends across metrics simultaneously — for example, correlating job spikes with logged-in user counts.
- Click the Expand icon (❐) to open the tile in full-width mode.
The tile fills the Cockpit area width, making multi-series trend comparison much easier to read.
Legend Controls in Expanded View
Figure 30: System Activity — Expanded View with a legend item struck through to focus on specific metrics
In expanded view you can still click legend items to hide activity series. For example, striking out Query Chains and TDRs leaves only Jobs Running and Logged-In Users visible, helping you focus on the metrics most relevant to your investigation.
In the expanded view you can still click legend items to hide or show individual activity series, helping you focus on the metrics most relevant to your investigation.
Closing / Collapsing the Tile
Figure 31: System Activity tile — Close button to collapse back to the standard Cockpit view
The Close (X) button exits expanded mode and returns the System Activity tile to its standard size, restoring the full multi-tile Cockpit dashboard so you can view all other tiles again.
- Click the Close (X) icon to exit the expanded view and return to the standard multi-tile Cockpit dashboard.
