Cockpit — Database Metrics Tile
Monitor Data Trust metadata database storage utilization and drill into Data Management from the Cockpit dashboard.
Overview
The Datastore DB Utilization tile (also referred to as the Database Metrics tile) displays the current storage utilization of the Data Trust metadata database. It shows the total allocated space, used space, and a detailed per-category breakdown of what is consuming storage.
This tile is visible to Admin Pro-Users only. It supports Bar Chart, Pie Chart, and Tabular views, and provides drill-down access to the Data Management page in the Admin Console for retention and cleanup actions.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in to Data Trust with an Admin Pro-User role.

The Datastore DB Utilization tile shows how much of the Data Trust metadata database is in use, broken down by category. Only Admin Pro-Users see this tile — it helps you catch storage issues before the database runs out of space.
Accessing the Database Metrics Tile
Path: Data Trust › Cockpit- Log in to Data Trust with an Admin Pro-User account.
The Cockpit dashboard loads. The Datastore DB Utilization tile appears in the dashboard, displaying a bar chart of database storage usage by category.
Refreshing the Tile

The Refresh icon reloads the current storage utilization numbers from the database server. Use it after running a data purge to confirm that the freed space is reflected in the tile's counts.
- Click the Refresh icon (↻) to reload the latest database storage data.
Chart Legend

The legend maps each colored bar or slice to a storage category such as Reconciliation Exception Data, Validation Exception Data, and Query Chain Snapshot Data. Use it to identify which category in the chart corresponds to the storage area you want to investigate.

Striking through legend items (shown here with some categories hidden) narrows the chart to only the storage categories you want to compare. This is useful when a single large category dominates the scale and obscures the size of smaller categories.
- Click the Legend icon to display the storage-category legend.
- Click any legend entry to show or hide that category in the chart.
Tabular View

Tabular view lists every storage category with its current size. Use this view to quickly identify which category is consuming the most database space — the largest value in the list is your primary target for retention policy adjustments.
- Click the Tabular icon to switch to a table listing each storage
category with its size value.
The table lists categories such as: Reconciliation Exception Data, Validation Scenario Exception Data, Query Chain Snapshot Data, and others, each with their current storage footprint.
Pie Chart View

Pie Chart view shows each storage category as a proportional slice of the total used space. Categories consuming the most storage appear as the largest slices, making it easy to prioritize which retention policies to adjust first.
- Click the Pie Chart icon to switch to pie chart mode.
The bar chart is replaced by a pie chart showing each storage category as a proportional segment.
Showing Database Free Space

Toggling the DB Free option adds the remaining available database space as an additional segment in the chart. This gives you a complete picture of allocated versus used versus free space, so you can judge how much headroom remains before action is needed.
- In the tile options (hamburger / settings icon), toggle the DB Free option
to include the remaining free space as a segment in the chart.
The chart adds a "Free" segment, giving you a complete picture of allocated vs. used vs. free storage.
Bar Chart View

The default Bar Chart places an Allocated Space bar and a Used Space bar side by side for each storage category. When a Used Space bar nearly equals the Allocated Space bar in a category, that category is close to its storage limit and may need a retention policy change.

Hovering for Storage Details

Hovering over any bar in the chart reveals a tooltip with the precise storage amount for that category and bar type (Allocated or Used). Use this to confirm exact figures when planning retention policy changes or reporting storage usage.

Drilling Down to Data Management
Clicking on a storage category in the tabular or pie chart view navigates to the Data Management page in the Admin Console, where you can configure retention policies and purge historical data to reclaim space.

Clicking through to the Data Management page for Reconciliation Exception Data lets you set retention periods or manually purge historical exception records. Reducing the retention window is the most direct way to reclaim space consumed by this category.

The Data Management page for Query Chain Snapshot Data shows how long snapshot data is retained and provides options to adjust that period or purge records immediately. Snapshot data can accumulate quickly on busy platforms.

The Data Management page for Validation Scenario Exception Data controls how long validation exceptions are stored. If this category is consuming significant space, reducing its retention period is usually safe once exception data has been reviewed and resolved.
- Click any category row in the Tabular view (or any segment in the Pie Chart) to open
the Data Management page for that category.
The Admin Console Data Management page opens, filtered to the selected data category. You can review retention settings and manually purge historical records.
Expanding the Tile

The Expand icon opens the Database Metrics tile in full-width mode. Use this when comparing many storage categories side by side — the extra width prevents bar labels from overlapping and makes proportions easier to judge.

Expanded Bar Chart view gives you a wide canvas to compare Allocated versus Used space bars for every storage category at once. This is the most efficient way to identify which categories are approaching their storage limits.
- Click the Expand icon (❐) to view the tile in full-width mode.
The tile expands, making it easier to compare storage categories across a wide bar chart.
Pie Chart in Expanded View

You can switch to Pie Chart in expanded mode for a proportional view with more room for category labels. The wider display prevents label overlapping, making it easier to read the names of smaller storage categories.
You can switch between Bar Chart and Pie Chart in the expanded view just as you would in the standard tile view.
Collapsing the Tile

The Close (X) button collapses the Database Metrics tile from full-width back to its standard tile size, restoring the full multi-tile Cockpit dashboard so all other tiles become visible again.
- Click the Close (X) icon to exit the expanded view and return to the standard Cockpit dashboard.
