Security — User Groups
Organise users into groups and manage shared connection access across the platform.
Overview
User Groups allow administrators to organise users into logical collections and assign shared connection access. Instead of granting connection permissions to users one by one, you assign connections to a group and then add users to that group — all members automatically inherit the group's access.
Navigating to User Groups

In the left sidebar click the shield icon (Security), then click User Groups to open the User Groups management page.
User Groups Page Overview
Figure 2: User Groups page
The User Groups page lists all groups in the system. Each row shows the Group Name, Group Description, Created On, Created By, Modified On, and Modified By columns. System-defined personal groups are created automatically for each user. Custom groups (like 'QA_User_Group') are created by administrators.
Editing a User Group
- Select the checkbox next to the group you want to edit.
Figure 3: Selecting a User Group to edit
Click the checkbox next to the target group's row. The Edit and Delete toolbar buttons become active.
- Click the Edit (pencil) icon in the toolbar.
Figure 4: Edit button activated
With a group selected, click the pencil (Edit) icon in the top toolbar. The Edit User Group popup opens, pre-filled with the current group details.
- Update the group and save.
Figure 5: User Group updated successfully
After editing the Group Name, Description, Users, or Connections and clicking Save, a success message confirms the group has been updated. The Modified On and Modified By columns reflect the change.
Deleting a User Group
- Select the group and click the Delete (bin) icon.
Figure 6: Selecting a group for deletion
Select the group checkbox, then click the Delete icon in the toolbar. Data Trust will ask for confirmation before removing the group.
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
Figure 7: Delete confirmation
A confirmation dialog asks you to verify the deletion. Click Delete to permanently remove the group, or Cancel to abort. Deleting a group does not delete the users within it — they remain on the platform with their individual access.
- Confirm the success message.
Figure 8: User Group deleted successfully
A success message confirms the group has been removed. The group disappears from the list and all users previously in it lose the group's connection permissions unless they belong to another group with the same access.
Creating a New User Group
- Click the + User Group button.
Figure 9: Clicking + User Group
Click the + User Group button at the top-right of the User Groups page to open the Create User Group popup.
- Fill in the group details.
Figure 10: Create User Group popup
The Create User Group popup contains four fields: Group Name (required, must be unique), Description (optional, explains the group's purpose), Users (multi-select dropdown — choose which users belong to this group), and Connections (multi-select dropdown — choose which database connections this group can access). Click Save to create the group.
- Review the group details.
Figure 11: New User Group details
After saving, the group details are displayed. Verify that the correct users and connections have been assigned before closing the popup.
- Confirm the success message.
Figure 12: User Group created successfully
A success message confirms the new User Group has been created. The group appears in the list and all assigned users can now access the group's connections.
