Cockpit — Settings
Personalize your Cockpit dashboard: change the background theme and choose which tiles to display.
Overview
Cockpit Settings lets you personalize the appearance and content of your Data Trust Cockpit dashboard. You can change the background theme color and control which tiles (widgets) are displayed on the Cockpit.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in to Data Trust with a Pro-User or Admin Pro-User role.
Opening Cockpit Settings
Path: Data Trust › Cockpit › SettingsFigure 1: Data Trust Cockpit — Settings icon (gear) visible in the Cockpit header area
The gear Settings icon is located at the top of the Cockpit dashboard. Clicking it opens the Settings panel as a side drawer without navigating away from the Cockpit, so you can customize the layout while keeping the dashboard in view.

The Settings panel contains exactly two sections: 'Change Background Theme' for visual personalization, and 'Add or Remove Widgets' to control which tiles appear on your dashboard. All customization is scoped to your account and does not affect other users.
- On the Cockpit dashboard, click the Settings icon (⚙ gear icon)
in the top area of the Cockpit page.
The Settings panel slides open on the right side of the screen, revealing two sections: Change Background Theme and Add or Remove Widgets.
Changing the Background Theme
The Cockpit background can be set to one of several preset color themes, or you can choose a custom color using the color picker.
Figure 3: Cockpit Settings — background theme color swatches showing available preset themes
The preset color swatches offer a range of background themes. Clicking any swatch applies the color instantly in the background — you can see it change behind your tiles in real time before committing with Save.
Figure 4: Cockpit — background theme applied, showing the selected color behind the tiles
The Cockpit background updates live as you click swatches, so you can preview exactly how each color looks with your current tile arrangement before saving. This makes it easy to choose a theme that provides good contrast with the tile cards.
Figure 5: Cockpit Settings — custom color picker for selecting a background color not in the presets
The custom color picker lets you choose any color not offered by the presets. Enter a hex code for a precise brand color, use the color wheel for freeform selection, or adjust hue and saturation sliders to fine-tune the result.
- In the Change Background Theme section, click any color swatch to
select a preset background theme.
The Cockpit background updates immediately to the selected color.
- To choose a custom color, click the color picker icon (palette icon)
and select any color from the color wheel or enter a hex value.
The Cockpit background updates to your chosen custom color.
- Click Save to persist the background theme selection. Click Reset to revert to the default theme.
