Connection Profiles — Save Replaces Update
The Update button has been removed from the Edit Connection page. The Save button now saves all profile edits in one action.
Overview
In the updated Data Trust UI, the Update button that previously appeared on the Edit Connection page has been removed. All edits to a connection profile — including name changes, credential updates, and Additional Settings modifications — are now saved using the single Save button. This streamlines the editing workflow by eliminating the need to click a separate “Update” action after making changes.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in to Data Trust with an Admin Pro-User role.
- The connection profile you want to edit already exists in the Connection Explorer.
Editing a Connection with the Save Button
Path: Data Trust › Admin Console › Connection Explorer › Edit ConnectionFigure 1: Connection Explorer — locate the profile you want to edit.
Open the Connection Explorer from the Admin Console left-hand navigation. All existing connection profiles are listed here. Identify the profile you want to update.
- Select the checkbox next to the connection you want to edit, then click the Edit icon in the toolbar.
Figure 2: Select the connection and click the Edit toolbar icon to open the Edit Connection page.
The Edit icon (pencil icon) in the toolbar becomes active when exactly one connection row is selected. Clicking it navigates to the Edit Connection page for that profile.
Figure 3: Edit Connection page — all connection parameters are pre-populated. There is no separate “Update” button; the Save button handles all changes.
The Edit Connection page displays the existing connection parameters on the right panel. Notice that there is no separate Update button — the Save button at the bottom of the form is the only action needed to commit any changes you make on this page, whether you are updating the connection string, credentials, or Additional Settings.
- Make the required changes. For example, update the Connection Name or modify the Connection String, credentials, or Additional Settings.
Figure 4: An updated Connection Name entered on the Edit Connection page — no additional “Update” step is required.
In this example, the Connection Name field has been edited directly. In the previous version of Data Trust, you would have needed to first click an Update button to push the name change before saving. The new UI removes this intermediate step — simply make your changes and proceed to Save.
- Click Save to apply all changes.
Figure 5: The Save button — clicking this commits all changes made on the Edit Connection page in a single action.
The Save button at the bottom-right of the form saves all changes across both the Connection Parameters and Additional Settings tabs simultaneously. You do not need to switch tabs and save separately — one click on Save applies everything.
A success confirmation appears and all changes are persisted. The Connection Explorer reflects the updated profile details.
Figure 6: After saving, a Test Connection can be run to verify the updated profile is still valid.
After clicking Save, it is good practice to click Test Connection to confirm the updated profile still connects successfully. The green “Test Connection Successful!” toast confirms the edited connection is valid. The Modified By and Modified On columns in the Connection Explorer update automatically to record who made the change and when.
