| Term | Definition |

| Business Term | A standardized business definition for a data concept (e.g., "Revenue", "Customer ID"). Stored in the Business Terms. |
| Connection Profile | A configured data source connection (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle) with credentials, schedule, and scope. |
| DQ Dimension | A category of data quality measurement: Completeness, Accuracy, Uniqueness, Validity, Timeliness, Consistency. |
| DQ Rule | A data quality check applied to a column or table, expressed as a SQL expression, uniqueness constraint, schema validation, or anomaly detection. |
| Drift | A detected change in metadata structure (schema, column type, key, row count) between two extraction snapshots. |
| Enrichment | AI-powered process that adds business descriptions, classifications, and quality insights to extracted metadata. |
| Enterprise Trust Map (ETM) | Interactive knowledge graph showing the complete data governance hierarchy with DQ health overlays. |
| Extraction | The process of reading structural metadata (schemas, tables, columns, keys) from a data source. |
| Failed Records | Individual data rows that violated a DQ rule during execution. |
| Harvest Knowledge | AI feature that generates business terms with definitions and DQ rules based on industry and domain context. |
| KPI | Key Performance Indicator — a summary metric displayed as a card on dashboard pages. |
| Lens | A perspective/view in the DQ Command Center: Executive, Domain Assurance, or Operational. |
| Metadata Observability | Monitoring of metadata health over time, including drift detection, time travel, and reporting. |
| Reusable Rule | A DQ rule defined in the central repository that can be deployed across multiple connections. |
| RightSight | The name of the Data Observability product module within the DataTrust platform. |
| Scan Tag | The process of automatically tagging database columns with business terms based on name patterns. |
| Schema | A namespace within a database that groups tables and views (e.g., dbo, sales, public). |
| Snapshot | A point-in-time capture of metadata state, used for time travel and comparison. |
| Time Travel | Feature that lets users view metadata as it existed at any historical point in time. |
| Where-Used | Analysis showing all connections and contexts where a reusable rule is deployed. |
