Domain Management v7.6 beta
Overview
Domain Management lets you define and organize your enterprise data domains into a hierarchical structure. Domains are the top-level organizational units that group related business terms, data assets, and data quality rules.
Target Persona: Data Governance leads, Data Stewards, Business Analysts.
Prerequisites: RightSight access; optionally, a pre-defined domain taxonomy in CSV format for bulk import.
How This Module Helps
Domains form the backbone of your governance hierarchy. Every business term, data quality rule, and trust score rolls up to a domain. Without domains, you cannot: - Organize business terms by business area - View domain-level DQ scores in the DQ Command Center - Build the hierarchy in the Enterprise Trust Map
Recommended first step — configure at least 3–5 top-level domains before creating business terms.
| Connects To | Relationship |
|---|---|
| Business Terms | Terms are assigned to domains |
| Enterprise Trust Map | Domains form the top level of the trust hierarchy |
| DQ Command Center | Domain Assurance view aggregates DQ scores by domain |

- Child domains are re-parented to the deleted domain's parent (or become root domains).
- Business terms previously assigned to this domain lose their domain assignment.

- Domain with active governance — If the domain is heavily linked, a warning is shown but deletion is still allowed after confirmation.

Tips & Best Practices
- Start with 3–5 top-level domains aligned to your business units (Finance, Operations, HR, Sales, etc.).
- Use the AI Suggestion feature to bootstrap your hierarchy, then refine manually.
- Keep domain names concise — they appear throughout the platform as filter options.
- Assign meaningful icons to domains for quick visual identification in the Enterprise Trust Map.
- Review and adjust your domain structure before creating business terms — moving terms between domains later requires manual re-assignment.
