The Reporting Characteristics such as Quality Dimensions, Risk Categories, and Data Domains are helpful in setting up different checks for the Validation Rules widgets by the users. These Reporting Characteristics can be chosen from the Validation Rules widgets while creating different Validation Scenarios. Apart from this, the user can also add new Reporting Characteristics from the click of a button. Some of the Quality Dimensions listed here are Accuracy, Consistency, Integrity, Timeliness, Uniqueness, Validity, Completeness etc.
To learn about Reporting Characteristics tile, let us walk through the below procedure:
- Click the ‘ADMIN CONSOLE’ tab.
- Hover on the left-hand side of the application to view available options.
- Click the ‘System Preferences’ option.
Path: ADMIN CONSOLE > System Preferences
- A ‘Preferences’ session page is displayed.
- Under the ‘Preferences’ page, a couple of tiles are displayed.
- Click the ‘Reporting Characteristics’ option.
- A ‘Reporting Characteristics’ session page is displayed.
- On Reporting Characteristics page, three tabs namely Quality Dimensions, Risk Categories, and Data Domains are displayed.
Note: By default, the Quality Dimensions tab is selected.
- Under the Quality Dimensions tab, a tabular grid with four columns namely Name, Description, Operations, and Set as Default are displayed.
Note: The same tabular grid with the same columns are also displayed for the other Reporting Characteristics tabs like Risk Categories and Data Domains.
Path: ADMIN CONSOLE > System Preferences > Reporting Characteristics
- The user can set any Quality Dimensions reporting characteristics as default.
- Let’s suppose, the ‘Conformity’ name is selected as default from the ‘Set as Default column.’
- Click the ‘Edit’ button in the ‘Operations’ column against the ‘Conformity’ name.
- An ‘Edit Characteristic’ pop-up window is displayed.
- Let’s suppose edit the Name of Conformity to ‘Conformity Quality Dimension.’
- Click the ‘Update’ button to apply the new changes.
- A message ‘Successfully updated characteristic’ is displayed on the top right corner of the page.
- Now let’s click the ‘Delete’ button against ‘Conformity Quality Dimension’ name.
- A ‘Delete Characteristic’ pop-up window is displayed.
- A message ‘Successfully deleted characteristic’ is displayed on the top right corner of the page.
- Click the ‘Add’ button from the ‘Quality Dimensions’ tab.
- An ‘Add Characteristic’ pop-up window is displayed.
- Let’s suppose add the Name as ‘Conformity’ and Description as ‘The extent to which data conforms to a specified format. For example, the order date must be in the format YYYY/MM/DD.’
- Click the ‘Add’ button.
- A message ‘Successfully created characteristic’ is displayed on the top right corner of the page.
- Click the plus (+) button beside the ‘Data Domains’ tab.
- A ‘New Characteristic Tab Name’ pop-up window is displayed.
- Let’s suppose, add ‘TEAM’ in the ‘New Characteristic Tab Name’ text field.
- Click the ‘Create’ button.
- A message ‘Successfully created reporting characteristics tab’ is displayed on the top right corner of the page.
- An ‘Edit’ and ‘Delete’ buttons are used to Edit or Delete the newly created Reporting Characteristics.
- Click the ‘Menu’ button to navigate to the System Preferences session page.
