Offline Enterprise Server License Activation
Activate your Data Trust product licence in air-gapped or restricted network environments.
Overview
The Offline Enterprise Server License Activation feature enables organisations that run Data Trust in air-gapped or restricted network environments to activate their product licence without requiring direct internet connectivity. The process involves generating a licence request file on the server, sending it to the vendor, and then importing the returned activation file.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in to Data Trust with an Admin Pro-User role.
- Admin Console access has been granted by your system administrator.
- A valid product licence file has been received from your Data Trust vendor representative.
Navigating to Product Licence
Path: Data Trust › Admin Console › System Preferences › Product Licence
Figure 1: System Preferences navigation option
Navigate to Admin Console and then to System Preferences to locate the Product Licence tile for managing the Data Trust licence. This section requires Admin Pro-User access and is typically used during initial setup, licence renewal, or in response to a licence expiry warning. The Product Licence configuration is separate from other System Preferences settings and affects the operational status of the entire platform.
Figure 2: Product Licence option
Click the Product Licence tile to open the licence management page where the current licence status and options for activation are displayed. This tile may be labelled differently depending on your Data Trust version, but it is identifiable by its licence or key icon. If your licence is approaching expiry, a warning badge may be visible on this tile from the System Preferences landing page.
Figure 3: Product Licence page
The Product Licence page displays the current licence status, the registered organisation name, the feature set covered, and the expiry date. Review this page before attempting activation to understand the current licence state and what action is needed. The Activate Licence button on this page opens the activation dialog where you can choose online or offline activation.
Activating an Offline Licence
- On the Product Licence page, click the licence activation button to open the activation dialog.
- Follow the prompts to upload the offline licence file received from your vendor.
Figure 4: Licence Activation pop-up
The Licence Activation pop-up provides options for both online and offline activation — select the offline activation mode if your server cannot reach the internet or the vendor's licence server. Online activation requires outbound connectivity to the Data Trust vendor's licence service; offline activation uses a file-based exchange process instead. If you are unsure which mode to use, contact your Data Trust vendor representative for guidance before proceeding.
Figure 5: Offline Licence Activation process
Upload the offline licence activation file received from your vendor using the file selector provided in the activation dialog. Data Trust validates the file format and the licence key embedded within it before applying the new licence to the platform. A confirmation message is displayed immediately after successful validation — if an error occurs, verify that the uploaded file was not corrupted and that it was issued for the correct server or organisation.
