Job scheduler, FDR, and Validation result notifications can now be accessed from your Slack application.
We have a three-step process to be followed here as shown below:
- Create a webhook URL for Slack integration.
- Add the created webhook URL as a Slack instance from Third-party integration.
- Use the created Slack instance in any scenario.
1. Create a webhook URL for Slack integration:
- Log in to your Slack application.
- Click the Channels dropdown list which displays two options namely Create and Manage.
- Hover on Create and click on Create channel option.
- A Create a channel pop-up window is displayed.
- Add the channel name and click on Next.
- Select Public – anyone in Getrightdata as an Example here.
- Click on Create.
- An Add people pop-up window is displayed.
- Click Skip for now as it is optional here.
- Click on the menu dropdown (here Getrightdata) list to view a set of options.
- Hover on Tools & Settings and click Customize workspace.
- A Customize Your Workspace session page is displayed.
- Click Home.
- Select and click Add Applications.
- Search and click Incoming Webhooks from the search text field.
- An Incoming Webhooks session page is displayed.
- Click Add to Slack.
- Select the Incoming Webhook as new_slack_webhook.
- Select Add Incoming Webhooks integration.
- This action creates the Webhook URL.
2. Add the created webhook URL as a Slack instance from Third-party integration:
- Click the ADMIN CONSOLE module.
- Hover and click on the System Preferences snippet option to open it.
- Click Third Party Integration to open it.
- By default, Jira option is selected.
- Select Slack.
- Click Add.
- An Add Slack Instance pop-up window is displayed.
- Add the Instance Name and URL and click Test Connection.
- A message Successfully Authenticated with Slack is displayed which indicates the slack integration is successful.
- Click Save.
- A toaster message Successfully created Slack board instance is displayed.
- The created new Slack instance is displayed in the below screenshot.
3. Use the created Slack instance in any scenario:
- Click the SCENARIO STUDIO module.
- Search for any scenario from the search text field.
- Select the scenario and click on Edit to open it in edit mode.
- From the Additional Options tab, drag and drop Slack widget onto the design canvas and double tap it to open.
- A Slack pop-up window is displayed.
- Add the Slack Channel and click Save to save the widget.
- Click on Execute Now icon.
- This action executes the scenario which displays a green tick mark as Slack widget status.
- Now, open your Slack application to view the recent Validation execution results as a notification.
